Artist Statement

What do you believe in? Like truly, genuinely believe in? Not what you think you should believe, but what you really believe to be true, deep in your heart. Why do you believe in it? Is it different to what you were taught to believe?

Georgia Plumb explores her feminist beliefs through thought-provoking soft sculpture installations and digital text work. These works aspire to challenge the preconceptions that her viewers may hold over certain pertinent issues and though her practice may be considered to be politically motivated by some, Plumb herself believes that these topics are actually moral issues, and should be addressed as such.

Committed to creating accessible and inclusive work, audience participation and involvement of the senses, such as scent and touch, are crucial to Plumb's developing practice. Experimental, playful, and begging to be interacted with, her sculptures are often bodily and suggestive, while her candid text pieces take a more direct approach, focusing on wider issues.
